This grade II listed farmhouse compound in North Devon has been developed over the past 20 years and we were commissioned in 2013 to get planning approval to create a very large extension to the rear of the main house to accommodate extra kitchen space and a substantial painting studio.
Early 2015 we were granted permission to build a 200m2 footprint extension to be clad in charred timber and with a slate roof and a long stretch of northern roof lights.

The scheme is largely built into the hillside and therefore the bulk of volume is not actually visible – this was the main reason for successfully obtaining planning permission for a scheme that on paper seems unfittingly large compared to the host building.
Construction had started only in late 2017 as a self-built scheme and hence has progressed very slowly but steadily since. A completion date has not been set at this point.
